What is NeoFi?

NeoFi, or Neo Finance, describes financial products and protocols that operate on blockchain infrastructure while serving institutional or structured finance objectives. These products sit at the emergent intersection of on-chain execution and real-world financial utility.

Permissionless · Algorithmic Centralised · Regulated
All three of the following criteria required:
01
On-chain execution
Core mechanics settled on a public or permissioned blockchain such as stablecoin payments, use of tokenised assets, or on-chain settlement of financial instruments.
02
Real-world financial utility
Serves a recognisable financial function such as lending, yield, credit, collateralisation, or asset management for institutional or structured participants.
03
Institutional or structured design
Incorporates compliance frameworks, identity verification, counterparty controls, or structured risk management that distinguish it from purely permissionless protocols.

Maple Finance
Maple Finance — Institutional Credit
USDC Loan Pool
Sponsored placement

Maple Finance occupies one of the most compelling positions in the NeoFi landscape. Where early DeFi lending protocols competed on permissionlessness, Maple competes on counterparty quality — a distinction that matters considerably to the institutional allocators now entering this space.

The USDC Loan Pool is the flagship product: a senior lending facility targeting a steady 8%+ APY, funded by depositors who accept the protocol's credit risk framework in exchange for yields structurally higher than T-bill alternatives. Each loan is underwritten by a delegated pool delegate — a layer of human credit judgement that most on-chain protocols have been unwilling or unable to replicate.

From a NeoFi perspective, Maple is canonical: on-chain settlement, USDC as the unit of account, and permissioned access throughout.
